International banks dominate top three

Singapore, 15 November 2010: GTI Media (GTI) announced the list of 100 most sought after employers this evening at the Singapore’s 100 leading graduate employers awards 2010. The award ceremony was graced by Guest of Honour Mdm Ho Geok Choo, Member of Parliament, West Coast GRC and CEO of Human Capital Singapore (HCS).

International bank Barclays Capital claimed the top spot in the overall rankings, with homegrown engineering firm Singapore Technologies Engineering coming in as first runner-up and Citibank coming in as second runner-up.

Winners of the Singapore's 100 Leading Graduate Employers 2010!

Rounding out the top ten were J.P. Morgan, MediaCorp, Credit Suisse, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Philips Electronics, Singapore Press Holdings and Ernst & Young.

In her address to the audience, Mdm Ho stressed the leading organisations’ part in shaping Singapore’s future, “It is with your aspirations, and the attraction of your brands, that you can reach out to Singapore’s best and brightest talents in a concerted effort to build up our country’s economy and to achieve our nation’s goals.”

GTI also recognised industry leaders in six specific sectors. Sector winners are as follows.

Banking & Financial Services

Barclays Capital

Engineering Services

Singapore Technologies Engineering

Consumer Business/FMCG

Procter & Gamble

Professional Services

PricewaterhouseCoopers

Energy & Petrochemical

ExxonMobil

Public Service/Statutory Board

Ministry of Education (MOE)

The results are based on the Singapore Graduate Barometer 2010. The survey was powered by trendence, Europe’s leading employer branding, personnel marketing and recruiting research institute.

GTI received encouraging response from employers, students and fresh graduates. Nickie Yew, Regional Director of GTI said “We are thrilled to receive the support of so many employers, universities and students for the survey and we are confident that we will do even better next year.”

Michele Lam, publishing director of GTI said according to the survey, “Singaporean students most prize professional development/training, and promotion opportunities. Good work-life balance is prioritised over a highly demanding position. Respondents also felt that the ability to develop specialised skills is important in their first job. The survey also found that an overwhelming majority of respondents are prepared to relocate in their first job with Asia and Europe being popular destinations.”

According to GTI founder and international managing director, Adrian Wood, the “benefit of a trendence research is that it allows organisations to understand the current perceptions of students to their company, their sector and the graduate employment market as a whole. They are able to benchmark their brand against named competitors.

This year’s finding will be published in the Singapore’s 100 leading graduate employers directory in the first quarter of 2011. The next Singapore Graduate Barometer will begin in early 2011. For more information on the event and for the list of top 100 companies, visit www.singapores100.com.
